AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

Do you love being outdoors and working with children? Acton Academy Kennebunkport is looking for a creative, energetic, and organized Afterschool Activities Director to lead engaging, nature-based programming for learners ages ~5–12. This is a unique opportunity to design meaningful afterschool experiences that inspire wonder, independence, and connection—with each other and the natural world.


Hours: 3:00 PM – 5:00/5:30 PM
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (No Wednesdays)
Location: Kennebunk, ME
Pay: $20–$30/hour, depending on experience
Start Date: Tuesday, September 2, 2025

What You'll Do:

Design and lead enriching afterschool activities with daily outdoor exploration.
Plan projects such as nature hikes, gardening, community service projects, art in nature, or STEM-inspired adventures.
Create a safe, welcoming environment where children can unwind, create, and explore.
Supervise and engage with learners during structured activities and free play.
Support daily transitions including arrival, snack, cleanup, and parent pickup.

Who You Are: 

Experienced working with children in a school, camp, or youth program setting.
Passionate about outdoor learning, hands-on projects, and learner-driven discovery.
Confident and calm in leading multi-age groups, with a natural sense of curiosity and play.
Organized, flexible, and able to manage a daily rhythm while allowing freedom and creativity.
Reliable and an excellent communicator.

This role is ideal for an independent learner who is self-directed yet collaborative, values experimentation and continuous improvement, and holds deep respect for the genius within each child.
