Opening in 2020!
Make the world
your classroom.
Nature has so many benefits for children, which I list on my 'nature school' page if you are interested. YOU don't have to be a nature expert, or even enthusiast...just encourage your kids to play outside and explore. Kids will find nature anywhere, from simply digging in the dirt to finding ladybugs or worms on sidewalks. Free play outside lets children use their imagination without limits, so send them outside and LET THEM GET DIRTY!!
If you are interested in an amazing program, check out White Pine Programs (I am in no way profiting from that mention, they are just amazing).
NATURE
Sit Spot Challenge
Parents...this gives you 30 minutes of peace and quiet, win-win!
Have your children select any spot in your yard, or close by; somewhere they can go by themselves.
The challenge is for 30 (or more) consecutive days have them go to that same spot to observe nature. Have them bring a notebook and pencil to record what they observe. This can be a picture, written description, a poem, whatever they are inspired to write or draw.
The goal is to sit quietly for 15 to 30 minutes daily, depending on their age and comfort level. It is done regardless of weather; rain, shine, snow (unless dangerous of course).
During this time they will observe what is in that area and any changes that may happen. The quieter they are and the longer they sit the more they may spot wildlife.
