“Interdependence is a choice only independent people can make” – Stephen Covey

There is a paradox in an Acton community. In the early years, the focus is on gaining the practice, tools, and skills to become an independent learner.

Then a shift happens. A high-level choice is made by the learners to move from independence to interdependence. They realize as they progress through their journeys it is only through relationships, accountability, and feedback within a healthy community that transformational learning occurs.

Our independence, then, is deeply rooted in community. Each learner is unique. Each will find a distinct calling. And all need each other to learn and grow. Interdependence is our lifeline.

When we face challenges together, there is always an opportunity for growth.

In our Adventure studio, we spend the entire year facing challenges, overcoming failures, celebrating successes, and learning how to work together as a tribe.

This is where true growth happens!
